RI-CAD™ 2.1 Changelog
Layers can be added to each page of the drawing. Layers lay on top of each other and can be equipped with name and description. Each layer can have the attributes locked, invisible and not printable.
Guide lines can be added to the worksheet in any desired alignment. Guide lines serve for optical orientation and alignment of elements.
The display of the grid can be changed now. This affects appearance (dot, lines or crosses) and colour. Additionally, the grid can be turned on/off via the toolbar.
RI-CAD drawings can be protected against editing, printing, export and/or display through encryption of the documents.
It is now possible to create new drawings from templates. These offer the common DIN-formats among others. A preview of the document/template will be displayed when creating or opening drawings.
The menu Tools was added as an alternative to the corresponding toolbar.
The menu View was extended with options for enable/disable shearing marks among other things.
Right-clicking on an element or node will open a context menu with function for editing.
The distribution of the commands on the different toolbars was changed and extended. They are sorted by topic.
The unit of a page can be changed directly through the menu View or right-clicking on the unit-display left from the horizontal ruler.
Double-click on a text-input opens it in edit mode
Double-click on a group opens it for editing the group elements
Double-click on empty space closes the currently opened group
Double-click on free line/rectangle/ellipse: change between standard mode and node-editing mode.
Rescaling elements through the markers in the corners will keep the aspect ratio. Pressing the Ctrl-key at the same time will change the aspect ratio.
Creating an element with the tool 'Draw Square/Rectangle' will only create a rectangle if the shift key is held simultaneously, otherwise a square. An existing square/rectangle can be edited with this tool later on.
Creating an element with the tool 'Draw Circle/Ellipse' will only create an ellipse if the shift key is held simultaneously, otherwise a circle. An existing circle/ellipse can be edited with this tool later on.
For scaling elements there are two modes to be selected: transformed coordinate plane (surrounding rectangle is also rotated and sheared) or untransformed coordinate plane (i.e. surrounding rectangle relative to page).
While moving elements with the mouse, they can be optionally snapped to the following points:
Nodes of lines, corners of rectangles or nodes on circles, ellipses
Intersections of lines
Outlines of elements
Centres of Elements
Corners of bounding rectangles
Bounding rectangles
Guide lines
Grid (as in version 2.0)
The snap points are worked-off in this order, i.e. nodes have the highes priority, the grid has the lowest.
Selected elements can be arranged relatively to each other or guide lines.
The menu View, Toolbars allows for setting the properties of the toolbars (on/off, icons, fonts etc.). The current desktop-configuration is saved at the closing of RI-CAD (independent from the user-configuration). This includes size and position of the main window, visibility of status bar, ruler and library.
To achieve a drawing space as big as possible, the full screen mode can be enabled through menu View, Full screen or the key F11.
Exporting RI-CAD files to other formats can be configured now.
After selecting menu File, Export, an export dialogue for the selection of export folder, file name and file format and other options will be opened.
Diagram elements can be constructed by entering size, position, angle. To do so, the new tool tab Geometry was added.
Selecting menu File, Properties of Document opens a dialogue for display and edit of document properties and meta data. All meta data entered by the user are saved with the document.
Element attributes (line type, filling pattern, font) can be copied and pasted, as already known from other programs.
The manipulation of font properties has been extended with common effects.
RI-CAD specific options have been added and can be found in the menu Miscellaneous, Options.
All drawings/libraries/templates that were saved with RI-CAD 2.0 can be opened with RI-CAD 2.1 (upwards compatible).
